Mr India (1987)
The story goes, that in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, there was a massive craze for movies based on the lives of Indian heroes. The best known of these was Rajesh Khanna’s Awaas. This craze also led to the rise of many other actors like Sanjeev Kumar, Raj Babu, Rajendra Kumar, Om Shivpuri, Rajesh Roshan, Padmaraj Singh and so on nic 02. One of the best action movies ever made and the first of Ajay Devgan’s many all-time hits. We still can’t get over the “Imma get you” scene, this movie really is a classic.
Shool (1989)
A social drama about a small town with a population of around 7000. The film focuses on how people with different ideologies and thoughts can live together as brothers and sisters. The film focuses on the inherent goodness of people, a theme that was very much in vogue then. The best thing about this film is that it doesn’t rely on a lot of loud background music or over-the-top emotions to achieve its goals. It simply shows us the world as it is, and makes us realise that there is no need to have a religion to be a good human being.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… (1991)
The quintessential 90s romantic comedy is still popular today and very popular with the youth. It’s got everything that we loved in movies in the 90s nic 02. Humorous situations, great music, a really cute cast and of course, a couple that just gets into trouble with each other and only each other. It’s the classic story of two individuals who are perfect for each other, but who just can’t see it, until fate intervenes.
Hum Deewane (1992)
Yet another hugely popular romance, this one is about how two individuals with absolutely no connection whatsoever can fall in love. The film follows the duo’s journey from the first meeting to the proposal and the wedding. This is one of the most romantic nic 02 movies to come out of Bollywood and one of the most popular Hindi songs, “Rishtey Yehi Dilruba”, still holds its appeal.
Dil Hai Hindustani (1994)
This one is an absolute classic! This film is one that comes along once in a blue moon. A film that hits you with its story, nic 02 without relying on loud music and over-the-top emotions. It follows the journey of a couple from the very beginning to their inevitable separation, with the boy being away on a business trip. The twists and turns in the plot will keep you guessing, while the music and visuals are as beautiful as they are heart-breaking.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)
Bajrangi’s journey began way back in 2010 when it was one of the five films entered into The Best of Showcase Competition at the Toronto Film Festival. Since then, it has gone on to win the hearts of people all over the world, with its message of Islam tolerance being particularly resonant at a time of rising Islamophobia.
The film is a heartwarming tale of how a five-year-old Indian girl, Bajrangi, becomes separated from her parents in Kathmandu. The girl, who cannot speak English nic 02, is brought to India by a kind-hearted man from Nepal. During her long journey, she is assisted by many people, who come together to help her. Finally, Bajrangi reaches her home safely.
