A shooting has left four people in hospital in Tampa. The incident occurred in the area of Courtland Street North and Chelsea Street East. More than 30 shell casings were found. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but have not identified a suspect. The victims have not been identified by police, but they are expected to recover. There are no other details at this time. Police are asking for the public’s help in solving the crime.
Three of the four suspects fled the scene through a residential neighborhood, but the fourth suspect remains in custody. Tampa shooting Police initially reported three suspects, who fled in a car. They were then ordered to surrender. After some time, the fourth suspect surrendered. The victim was then transported to a hospital in critical condition, but was later upgraded to stable condition.
Detectives believe that the shooting was not an accident. The children, aged five and eight, were shot multiple times. The five-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital; the eight-year-old was critically injured. Authorities are still interviewing the mother and determining if she is a suspect.
MacDill Air Force Base has announced that it has joined the Tampa shooting Police Department investigation. One of the suspects is a senior airman who is charged with murder. He has been held without bond at Orient Road Jail in Tampa shooting. He faces a charge of second-degree murder with a firearm.
Police said the suspects had known the victims of the shooting for many years and were acquainted with their families. Thomas told investigators that she knew the gun was loaded before shooting Oliver. The gun was found on Thomas’ bed. The gun was left on his bed after the shooting. Several witnesses described the scene as chaotic and feared for their safety.
